POLITICAL PARTICIPATION OF PEOPLE IN CHUM PHAE SUB-DISTRICT ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION, CHUM PHAE DISTRICT, KHON KAEN PROVINCE

Abstract

               The objectives of the research article (1) to study political participation of people in Chum Phae Sub-district Administrative Organization (SAO), Chum Phae district, Khon Kaen province, (2) to compare political participation of people, classified by their age and educational level, in Chum Phae SAO, Chum Phae district, Khon Kaen province. The population of the research was a total of people in Chum Phae SAO, Chum Phae district Khon Kaen province, and the 369 samples were selected through Taro Yamané’s calculating formula. The instrument used for data collection was the five-point rating scale questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis comprised of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and one-way ANOVA. In case there were statistically significant differences between mean scores, the Scheffé’s method was utilized.

               The research results were as follows:

               1) The political participation of people in Chum Phae Sub-district Administrative Organization, Chum Phae district, Loei province, was found to be overall at a high level. Separately considered, public hearing was found to be at the highest level, followed by voting or election; monitoring and checking was found to be at the lowest level.

               2)   In comparison, the political participation of people with different age and educational level in Chum Phae SAO, Chum Phae district, Loei province, was found to be different at a statistically significant level of 0.05 in three aspects: public hearing, voting and monitoring and checking.
