ONLINE LEARNING MANAGEMENT OF MAHAMAKUT BUDDHIST UNIVERSITY, SRILANCHANG CAMPUS DURING COVID–19 PANDEMIC

Abstract

              The objectives of the qualitative research article were (1) to study the online learning management of Mahamakut Buddhist University, Srilanchang Campus, (2) to study problems and solutions on online learning management of Mahamakut Buddhist University, Srilanchang Campus during the COVID-19 pandamic. The population of the research was a total of thirty-five lecturers in the first semester of the academic year 2020; the nine samples were representatives from the Academic Committee of Srilanchang Campus, and the Online Learning Committee of Srilanchang Campus, selected through the purposive random sampling. The instrument used for data collection was brainstorming in two online meetings, held on April 27, and June 26, 2020.


               The research results were as follows:


               1) The online learning management of Mahamakut Buddhist University, Srilanchang Campus during the COVID-19 pandemic consisted of the following online learning processes; (1) choosing an online learning platform, (2) designing online lessons, (3) managing an online classroom, (4) using media for online teaching, and (5) measuring and evaluating.


               2) There were four problems and solutions for online learning management. The first problem was the lecturer's attitude, for which the solutions consisted of (1) provision of online learning management training for the lecturers and (2) assignment of online learning committee to facilitate the lecturers about online learning. The second problem was the lecturer’s online technological literacy, for which the solutions consisted of (1) survey for the lecturers’ opinions and skills on online technologies, (2) training the lecturers to use online learning platforms, and (3) assigning the online learning committee to facilitate utilization of the online learning management platform. The third problem was production of online instructional media, for which the solutions comprised of (1) encouraging the lecturers to lecture with the Power Point media, (2) suggesting them to utilize online media from such web sites as youtube, etc., (3) establishing the instructional media production committee to assist the lecturers on online media production. The fourth problem was the students' readiness, for which the solutions accounted for (1) training the students how to learn through the online learning platform, (2) providing the students with appropriate online and offline classrooms, and (3) providing the students to attend online classes effectively with the hi-speed internet connection.
