TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP OF ECCLESIASTICAL ADMINISTRATIVE MONKS IN LOEI PROVINCE

Abstract

               The objectives of the research article were (1) to study the transformational leadership of Buddhist ecclesiastical administrative monks in Loei province, (2) to compare the transformational leadership of Buddhist ecclesiastical administrative monks in Loei province, classified by status and age. The population of the research was a total of 1,806 monks and novices under the Ecclesiastical Administrative Area of Dhammayutika Nikaya monks in Loei province; the 317 samples were selected through Krejcie and Morgan’s table, the stratified random sampling, based upon the population’s status, and the simple random sampling, based upon the ratio of each group. The instrument used for data collection was the five-point rating scale questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis comprised of percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and the t-test for independent samples.

               The findings of the research were as follows: 1) The transformational leadership of the ecclesiastical administrative monks in Loei province was found to be at a moderate level. Separately considered in the descending order, each aspect was found to be at a moderate level. They were the ideal influence, inspiration, consideration of individuality, and intellectual stimulation, respectively. 2) The comparison of the transformational leadership of ecclesiastical administrative monks in Loei province, classified by status and age, was found to be indifferent.
